- From the ASI meeting yesterday – no change in budget outlook

- College Council Commencement Update
- Outstanding Thesis Award semesters of consideration changing from "Summer xxxx through Spring xxxx" to "Spring xxxx through the next Spring xxxx" to accommodate students who file their thesis with the library after the advertised date to submit nominations. College Council unanimously approved.

- Thank you to everyone helping with hosting recent donor tours

- Unit 11 posting requirement
- TA's schedules with names, office number and hours need to be posted on the website
- Instructional Continuity
- Deans will meet next week to go over instructional continuity plans (for example if there's another pandemic or immigration issue, which we will have to handle on a case-by-case basis)
- Continuity plans will theoretically be updated every summer to put into effect the next academic year
- GWAR update
- Senate exec has sent the GWAR proposal back to CEPC council
- We have requested data and ADs will meet this week to go over
- CEPC council considering a task force on checking how much the new proposal would cost
- Dear Colleague Letter
- Sent from Department of Education - universities need to be Prop 209 compliant or risk losing funding (we are currently in compliance)
- More information now available on DOE website (at time of meeting)
- Town Hall on Friday, 3/7 will go over this more
- Late Travel Requests
- Recently have had an uptick of late travel requests
- Please emphasize to faculty that requests need to be timely – even if dates are not finalized (let us know whatever info they have – we can update existing requests)
- International travel must be dealt with outside of the College office

- Communications Internship Possibilities
- We have money for Science Communications - currently run by Christine Whitcraft
- We are planning to recruit CNSM students to be Communications interns (departments would be next academic year)

- Immigration guidance was very clear
- Some classes have gone online - not the best option for us, but we need to be able to be flexible given the current situation with immigration
- No updates on RSCA (still a lot of confusion about research grants/awards)

- University has retained an advocacy group to look at federal funding - they met with some PIs yesterday

- Sent out document on number of positions departments currently have
- Review and let the Dean know if everything looks good
- The college is down 10 positions in 7 years (largely due to retirements)
- The university expect to have 25 positions
- Biology
- Shark Lab replacement - Assistant or Associate level
- Asking for 1 Physiologist
- Mathematics and Statistics
- 2 positions in Applied Math, but with ability for computation/data science/machine learning/AI
- Physics and Astronomy
- Considering broad search across all fields
- Chemistry and Biochemistry
- Asking for 1-2 positions teaching lower division (Organic Chem and General Chemistry)
- Both courses support Biology
- Science Ed
- Non-immediate request for someone focuses on Upper Division Undergraduate classes/General Science Education degree program
- Earth Science
- Not asking for anyone at the moment
- By end of next year, it’ll be down to six full time faculty (as opposed to 9 normally) - will be asking strongly next year
